Our branch in Morningside was opened in August 2021. The inspiration for it was bagels. Durban did not have a dedicated bagel café and who better to do it than The Glenwood Bakery? Skills were transferred, people were relocated, a lovely corner shop was found, furnished and stocked.

Following on from the popularity of the original ‘bagel shop’, we have taken a much larger premises around the corner at 50 Florida Road.

Here, we replicate the space we have at Glenwood with a few extras.  There is a dedicated retail space selling our breads, pastries and deli items are in a more spacious setting, as in Glenwood.

There is a breakfast menu from the kitchen from 6 am to 2 pm, 7 days a week.

Our juice bar serves seasonal cold pressed juices and smoothies, everyday from 6am, until 3pm Monday to Friday, and until 2pm on weekends.

There is a lunchtime/supper menu from 12 pm (midday) to 9 pm five days a week, Monday to Friday, offering house made pastas, pizzas, burgers and slow cooked dishes.

We have a liquor licence and a small booze offering.  The corkage charge is be minimal; byo is encouraged.

Halaal

The deli side has a dedicated kitchen and is halaal, uncorrupted by the unclean animal (pork).  The menu in the café does have pork dishes, but the lamb, chicken and beef will continue to be from halaal butchers.  The pork products will be kept in separate fridges.
